ベセスダ・ソフトワークスは、1997年に発売された名作FPS『Quake II』の無料配布を日本時間8月13日1時から72時間限定で開始しました。Bethesda net Launcher経由で入手可能です。
これは、 2020年8月7日から8月9日まで開催されていたイベント「QuakeCon」のチャリティー企画によるもの。イベント中に一定額の寄付が集まった場合に『Quake II』『Quake III Arena』を無料配布するものというもので、最終的には3万ドルを獲得しています。なお、イベント期間中は初代『Quake』を無料配布していました。
ゲームはBethesda net Launcherにログインすると、自動的にライブラリに追加されます。入手期間は日本時間8月13日1時から8月16日1時まで。また、8月18日1時からは『Quake III Arena』の72時間限定無料配布が開始されます。
